Our very own Moni has been named as a finalist for the AusMumpreneur Awards in the Ausmumpreneur of the Year and Business Excellence categories.
The AusMumpreneur Awards presented by The Women’s Business School celebrate and recognise Australian Mums in business achieving outstanding success in areas such as business excellence, product development, customer service and digital innovation. The awards are designed to recognize the growing number of women who successfully balance motherhood and business in a way that suits their life and family.
Moni started her real estate career in the 1990’s, first in sales, then admin and property management, and finally as a principal. Her career in real estate has been the highlight of her professional career, allowing her to utilise the skills she developed from training and managing teams in various other roles. Her background is diverse and ranges from retail, working in fashion, the department of corrections, cooking on cattle stations, telemarketing, hospitality, health and wellness and sales.
Previously Justin and Moni owned and operated the second largest real estate business in South Australia under both a franchise and a marketing cooperative banner. While they loved the comradery that exists in these environments something that she could never understand was the absolute adoration of sales people and the mere toleration for Property Managers that existed in most sales offices. They recognised that the Property Management arm of the business was undervalued and held in a lower regard than was deserving for such a valuable component of the office.
When they created Rental Property Network the simplest way would have been to emulate a traditional office, and secure their financial position, but that was not the vision they had. They were convinced that there was a way to solve both Landlords concerns and Property Managers grievances by establishing a unique business model. Rental Property Network was established with the goal of better Property Management with continuity for Investors through retention of Property Managers.
The Team is fiercely protective of the culture within the organisation, demanding both loyalty and commitment, a high work ethic and authenticity. The team cultivates an environment of innovation, measuring every aspect of performance and mentoring team members for improvement.
Moni’s role today is to ensure that the Property Management Team is supported so they maintain positive mental health and are able to well manage our Investors properties.
Moni is delighted to be named as a finalist and is proud of her achievements, particularly with the business regularly ranking number one in South Australia for leasing more properties than any other agency. Moni says, “that means we help more families into homes than any other company and to me that’s something to be very proud of.”
There are many benefits to balancing business and motherhood as Moni explains, “I’ve been able to provide entrepreneurial mums and dads something that just wasn’t available to me, a work life balance in real estate that allows every one of our team to follow their passions whether that is horse riding or going to the gym, and perhaps most importantly, spend time with family, be at every sports day, and to choose child care or not. In our business children are welcome and present and the result is a village surrounding every mum to help support, nurture and develop both mums and children.”
It can be challenging to be a successful business woman whilst raising a family and Moni gives this advice for others thinking about starting their own enterprise.”My best advise in business is go the road less travelled, avoid the congestion and think laterally”.
