We were so excited for this years annual retreat which was held in Clare. There were goodies on arrival, with hampers filled to the brim including a Rental Property Network Thermos, shopping bags and stubby holders. The focus for this year was health and wellness to help promote a healthier lifestyle and even more positivity.
Friday night we held our annual Quiz night, and while most of us were well off the mark, The ‘Vandebeers’ (Linda and her amazing family) and the ‘Lifesavers’ (Shirley, Janice, Renee, Wayne and Brooke) contested fiercely until the last round. Last years champions, The ‘Vandebeers’ were eventually defeated by the ‘Lifesavers’ who were awarded with this years Turkey trophy! Yes, there is a great deal of attention around ‘Smelly’ the turkey at the moment, and no doubt Linda and her family would have loved to add the Turkey trophy to last years ‘Donkey’ trophy, but that was not to be!
Saturday featured a presentation on the benefits of meditation while Janice changed over our folders and bags to the new logo. After morning tea the team spent two hours in a knitting class with locals experts in an effort to become proficient enough to knit scarves and beanies for the homeless next winter. Very few of us are at beanie stage, but the scarves are all coming along nicely, some slower than others!
After lunch we enjoyed a session with Naturopath Nicki Brown from Natural by Nature who discussed the body’s response to stress. My personal highlight of the weekend, was when we participated in an exercise about stress triggers, and were prompted with a barrage of questions about normal work/life. Our team had virtually zero triggers around work. For me, this is validation that our business model truly benefits not only our Landlords and Tenants, but also significantly improves the lives of our Property Management Team, Admin included.
We were treated to mini massages, a session on insurance with Wayne Johnson, and a couple of team building events that were far more difficult than they first appeared! Justin and Ellen won several games of tennis to take out the annual trophy, this time, a lion (not a turkey or donkey) and we relaxed for the evening with drinks and a BBQ by the tennis court.
Sunday morning was spent planning for the year ahead, identifying positive characteristics of each team member and discussing confidence. Shane Adams and Stephen Drury were the Award recipients for the Quarter, and it was so nice to have families both at the retreat and also in the session to see the awards presented. The entire team and families then participated in a giant dodge ball tournament followed by lunch together at Seven Hills Hotel.
For our unique business with a focus on family and team culture, the event was a highlight for the year. We still have a couple of events in 2021, so if you are an Investor who believes a business should focus on taking care of the team that takes care of its customers, have a chat with one of our Property Managers. We also have our Landlords Appreciation Evening soon, and if you’d like to be part of that event please contact one of our team for details. If you are a Property Manager reading this, thinking – ‘why doesn’t our business do anything like that for our team’ give Moni, Taryk or any one of our team a call. The call could change not only your professional life, but your family life as well. We are always recruiting, and have four positions available right now for skilled professionals.
